Program Development is Taking Shape

As preparations for the 2026 ISHRS World Congress in Rio de Janeiro continue, I am pleased to share that we have now completed our first planning meeting, and the work is actively moving forward. Our chairs and co-chairs have been selected, and we are entering an exciting stage of development as the program begins to take shape.

Having attended ISHRS meetings for many years, I have always believed that the true strength of our Congress goes beyond the lectures themselves. Some of the most meaningful value comes from personal connections, the exchange of ideas, and the opportunity to learn directly from one another in a collegial and inspiring environment.

That spirit is very important to me as we prepare for Rio. Our goal is not only to build a strong scientific program, but also to create a meeting that feels welcoming, engaging, and memorable for everyone who attends. I am especially mindful of the experience of new and newer members, because I still remember what it felt like to attend my first Congress. We want Rio to be a place where people feel included early, connect more easily, and leave with a stronger sense of belonging to our society.

A great deal of thoughtful work is already underway, and I am very encouraged by the energy, ideas, and commitment of everyone involved. I look forward to sharing more with you as we continue preparing what I hope will be a truly special Congress for our ISHRS community.

All the best,
Maxim Chumak, MD, FISHRS
